CAPE TOWN – Lectures at the Boland College in Strand have been suspended after a group of students resumed protesting this morning.

The demonstrations started last week and it’s unclear exactly what the protests are over.

It’s believed demonstrators are demanding an increase in bursary payouts.

Boland college spokesperson Jandre Bakker says, “They’ve turned over rubbish bins and set the contents alight. They’ve blocked the main entrance to the campus. We have opened all emergency entrances and exits, and we have evacuated the building and suspended class until we make sure we can understand what this is about.”
