Clicks has established a Pharmacy Bursary Scheme to offer financial assistance for qualifying applicants to undertake or continue full-time study in the field of Pharmacy at any of the Pharmacy Schools in South Africa.

This forms part of our commitment to the Pharmacy profession and our investment in the development of future talent.

What the Clicks Pharmacy Bursary students includes

The Clicks Pharmacy Bursary Scheme offers bursaries of R30 000.00 each to deserving Pharmacy Students from first to fourth year of studying.
Bursaries that are allocated to students will, pending the successful completion of their studies each year, be extended to their next year of study.

Who qualifies? Bursary Criteria

Any student enrolled to study BPharm at a recognised university

General Criteria

  1. Applicants must be SA citizens.
  2. Applicants’ academic track records will be considered.
  3. Applicants must be interested in pursuing a career in Retail Pharmacy
  4. Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who meet the minimum requirements would be given preference.

Bursary Conditions

Clicks Bursars would be bound contractually to, after graduation, do their Pharmacist Internship and, after completing their Community Service, complete a year of service for each year of receiving the Bursary at Clicks.

Bursary funds will be paid directly to the University to administer in cooperation with selected students.

Clicks reserve the right to withdraw the offer of a Clicks bursary if the candidate performs substantially weaker academically than the academic performance presented during the application process.

Clicks Bursars are required to complete the compulsory practical time (externship) in a Clicks dispensary from their second to fourth year of study.

Bursary Stories

In the past 12 months more than 60 students were awarded bursaries from the Bursary Scheme. These students ranged from first to final year students and are studying at various universities throughout South Africa.

In November 2010 Clicks was recognised as one of the companies contributing to the development of students at the University of North West at a function held at La Toscana – Monte Casino by the university.

An investment in bursaries is an investment in our people. Clicks plan is to increase its investment in bursary opportunities and in so doing increase its investment in helping to build the pharmacy pipeline for South Africa.

Qualifications & Experience:

The bursary will only be awarded to South African Citizens and will only be considered if the applicant has a valid South African ID number.

The bursay will be subject to official certified confirmation of the student’s 1st and 2nd year-end results. Consequently, Dis-Chem gives preference to 3rd year students and appplicants with an exceptional academic record and who also participate in extra curricular activities.
