South African Bursaries 2016 – Application
1) Access Trust (FET College Bursaries)
Value of bursary Class and registration fees only.
Who can apply? Bursaries are for full-time post-matric courses at Western Cape Public FET colleges only for: NQF Levels 4 – 5, N4-N6 business and N1-N6 engineering; engineering practicals if the applicant has a technical matric or has completed at least N2 in engineering. Applicants must be between 18 and 23 years of age at start of studies. Younger students will be given preference. Applicants already at college, must have a minimum of 50% in all tests and exams, or competence in all modules. Bursaries are not awarded for NCV courses. Students who have other bursaries may not apply for an Access Trust bursary.

2) Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme (DoE)

About The Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme is a multi-year programme that promotes teaching in public schools. Full-cost bursaries are available to enable eligible students to complete a full teaching qualification in an area of national priority. Recipients of these bursaries will be required to teach at a public school for the same number of years that they receive the bursary.
Who can apply? An university pass is a minimum requirement with admission to a bachelor degree Studies. At least a level 4 pass or 60%. For students who wish to specialise in the Foundation Phase, a pass in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level is required. In addition, a level 4 pass or 60% on the Standard Grade or 50% on the Higher Grade pass in the Home Language is required.
Value Funza Lushaka bursaries cover all the recipient’s essential expenses.Expenses covered include tuition, full accommodation including meals, books and learning materials, and a small allowance for monthly living expenses. The allocation to any individual student is capped at a specific value. Where the HEI charges more than the capped value the bursars will have to top up from own funds. Universities have different cost structures, so the total value of a bursary differs from institution to institution.

3) ETDP SETA Education Bursary (Matric)

Who Can Apply Unemployed South Africans from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in studying towards qualifications in Education especially in scarce and critical skills areas.

4) Ikapa Elihlumayo Financial Aid Plan (FET) Bursary
About The Western Cape Government provide financial support to full-time FET students (NQF level 2 – 4), aged between 16 – 35, with an income below R80 000, to complete their qualification. 30% of funds are allocated to HE students and level 1 or ABET, excluding University of Technology (CPUT) programmes.

Who Can Apply Students applying to study at an FET College in the Western Cape. Preference must be given to the iKapa FAP FET target groups, i.e. female, youth at risk, disabled, second chance students (older group) and niche programmes, such as new NQF levels.
Value As per salary scale of SCC bursary fund.
Duration Renewable for each study term.

5) ISASA (Merit Bursary for Teaching)
About ISASA is an independent (private) schools association in the Southern African region. It is a non-profit organisation, which represents its members. ISASA is offering prospective Foundation Phase, Intermediate and FET teachers the opportunity to win bursaries to study for a four year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a one year post graduate (PGCE) degree at UNISA.

Who Can Apply School leavers with matric exemption (B pass) and 60% or more in Maths or Science and English;. The bursary applies to study in the Foundation Phase, Intermediate and FET phases studying towards a four year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a one year post graduate (PGCE) degree at UNISA. Prospective students must have achieved matric exemption (B pass) and 60% or more in Maths or Science and English; Tertiary students with Maths or Science and English credits; Graduates with Maths, Science or English majors. 6) SA Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) (Ed) Bursary
About The national bursary programme of the Institute dates back to 1935. Since then our students, among them Mr. Nelson Mandela, who won a bursary worth £120 in the late 1940s, have served the country in almost every field of endeavour.
