SAB Bursary

Founded in 1895, the South African Breweries (Pty) Ltd (SAB) is the South African subsidiary and historical birthplace of SABMiller plc, one of the world’s largest brewers by volume with more than 200 brands and brewing interests and distribution agreements in over 60 countries across six continents.

SAB employs more than 9,000 people, 75% of whom are from previously disadvantaged groups. In addition SAB’s operations support an estimated 48,000 jobs at SAB’s first round suppliers. For each job offered by SAB and its first round suppliers, 5.7 additional jobs are supported in the rest of the South African economy. In all 378,000 full time jobs in South Africa can directly or indirectly be traced back to the production of SAB’s products.

SAB is committed to contributing to South Africa’s national skills development agenda. One of the ways in which this is demonstrated is by awarding academic bursaries to talented and deserving South African students. Bursary focus areas change from year to year and are impacted by the South African skills market and the SAB business need.

In addition to financial support, their bursars are also afforded the opportunity to learn more about the world of work by participating in the resolution of real business challenges, through structured summer school or vacation work.

SAB expects its bursars to maintain high academic standards and exemplary behavioural conduct during their years of study. After the successful completion of their degrees, their bursars have the opportunity to join the company full time as graduate trainees.

Bursaries are currently available in the following areas of study:

Brewing

Packaging
